Sculptures For Public Display in Attica

Attica citizens, Bob and Melinda Shepherd, have sponsored three new public sculptures in 2018.

The ballerina sculpture, “Lucia”, by artist Gregory Mendez of Decatur, Indiana, was delivered April 27, 2018. The sculpture is made of small steel rods welded together to form the ballerina. It weighs about 300 pounds. It is located just south of the Attica City Hall at the corner of McDonald and Jackson Streets.

The second sculpture, “Flight”, by artist Matt Miller of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, was created by using steel plate and steel rods. It became an idea because of the musical talent of Mr. Miller’s wife, Whitney. It was erected April 27, 2018 and is located at the Attica Public Library at 305 S. Perry St.

The third sculpture, “Nucleus III”, was created by artist Jeff Satter, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It is made of pieces of steel welded together to form a very interesting 280-pound sculpture. It was delivered May 24, 2018 and is located at 104 E. Jackson Street.
