
As the chief financial officer for the City of Attica, the Clerk-Treasurer is subject to the authority of the State Board of Accounts and responsible for the financial accounting of City Government. The duties and powers of the Clerk-Treasurer include:
- Serves the public to the best of his/her ability,
- Processes the receipts and expenditures of all City money,
- Prepares the payroll for all City employees,
- Manages all City financial accounts,
- Makes all investments on behalf of the City,
- Assembles all City ordinances and resolutions along with records of the City cemeteries,
- Manages all City records,
- Serves as secretary to the City Council, Board of Public Works,
- Bills for use of City utilities, water and sewage,
- Collects utility payments,
- Collects payments of City Court fines,
- Supervises employees of her/his office,
- Finalizes annual budget estimates and proposed tax rates,
- Arranges public meetings,
- Issues licenses and fees authorized by ordinances.
The Clerk-Treasurer’s term is four years with no restrictions on the number of terms served. A candidate for clerk-treasurer must reside within the City and must have been a resident of Attica for at least one year.
