Board of Works & Safety – July 20, 2021

The Board of Works and Safety for the City of Attica met, pursuant to Public Notice, on Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, at 5:00 P.M. in the City Council Room.

Present was Board Member, Chris Gayler, Andy Smart, Mayor Duane Roderick and Clerk-Treasurer Joanne Broadwater.

Minutes from the previous meeting:

Gayler made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 15th, 2021, meeting, Smart seconded, all were in favor, and the motion passed.

Citizens petitions:


Department Head Reports:

Director of Public Works, Eric Swank had nothing to report.

Attica Fire Chief, Mike Little,

  • Gave a brief overview of what a Fire Territory is and stated the City of Attica should consider establishing one.

Police Chief, Matt Powell, had nothing to report.

Building Commissioner, Jeff Pycke

  • Reported that 422 E. Main St. is in good shape.

Economic Development Director, Rod Bannon, was not present.

Unfinished Business:

  • Andy reported that he spoke with Commissioner Andrew Hall regarding the condition of Xavier and River Rd and the Canada Street Bridge. Smart reported they are all in bad shape and need attention.

Miscellaneous Business:


The claims were presented by Mayor Roderick, Smart made a motion to approve claims, Gayler seconded.  All were in favor and the motion passed.

There being no further business, Smart made a motion to adjourn, Gayler seconded, the meeting was adjourned. The next Board of Works meeting will be held on Tuesday August 3rd, 2021, at 5:00pm, in person, in the City Council meeting room.
