Board of Works & Safety – January 21, 2020

The Board of Works and Safety for the City of Attica met, pursuant to Public Notice, on Tuesday, January 21st, 2020, at 4:30 P.M. in the City Council Room.

Present was Board Member, Andy Smart and Chris Gaylor. Also, present: Mayor, Duane Roderick

Minutes from the previous meeting: 

Gayler made a motion to approve the minutes from the November 19th meeting. Smart seconded.  All were in favor and the motion passed.

Citizens petitions:

Ryan Petit had had a bill with the city for utilities and the payment was somehow lost and he asked that the city forgive the debt. He had documentation to prove it was sent but not received. Smart motioned to drop the debt. Gayler seconded.

Petit also Addressed a problem with drainage at 301 East Monroe. Mr. Swank will investigate.

Department Head Reports:

Director of Public Works, Eric Swank, was present, He asked about purchasing a trench box. It was agreed that this is vital and to buy one asap.

Police Chief, Ed Durnil, was present. He was asked about a security system and deferred to Chief Little who has a contact.

Attica Fire Chief, Mike Little, was present, He is working on a presentation on grain bin Safety and possibly showing a movie at the Devon.

Building Commissioner, Jeff Pycke, was present, addressed a property at 106 West New Street

Unfinished Business:

Eric Smith updated where we were on the water study.

Claims:

The claims were presented by Mayor Roderick.   Smart made a motion to approve claims. Gayler seconded.  All were in favor and the motion passed.

Miscellaneous Business:

Citizen Matt McKinley had an issue with his water being disconnected. Mayor Roderick will investigate it.
