Parks Board Meeting Minutes – December 10, 2019

Date and time: 5:00 PM, December 10, 2019
Present: Board President Andy Smart, Barbara Foster, Brian Duncan, Mike Nicolas.
Location: Attica City Building courtroom.

President Smart called the meeting to order at 5:00PM and reviewed the minutes of the November meeting.

Andy Smart and Brian Duncan reported we have a signed contract with HWC Engineering for a current condition evaluation of the swimming pool facility and that Mayor Roderick and Public

Works Supervisor Eric Swank will be handling supervision and negotiations.

Andy Smart reported on discussions with Susan Hutchison about submitting grants.

Andy Smart and Brian Duncan reported, as of now, we plan to attend the January 13th City Council meeting to discuss the pool facility.

Brian Duncan and Brent Baurband discussed how an alternate connecting trail between Ravine Park and Ouabache Park could be routed to also include architecturally and historically significant buildings and homes and works of art. As this would be through town, most of the work could be marking and signage. Brent Baurband was very enthusiastic about the possibilities of booking tour groups.

Andy Smart reported that Leslie Coatings will strip and redo the pickle ball/ tennis courts at their expense after their initial surface failed. Once the court is stripped they will submit a bid for repairing any cracks that have shown up.

Barbara Foster reported on discussions with the grant writer about information relating to the Parkee Program that would be required and/ or helpful for grant applications.

Mike Nicolas agreed to contact Eric Swank about bridge, fence, and erosion control work in Ravine Park and report back, and suggested that a reinforced stream shoreline and sloping earth fill might be a better alternative to remedy the eroding high bank at the small lionhead viewpoint than a fence.

Meeting adjourned at 6:10 PM.

The next regular meeting of the Attica Parks Board will be at 5:00 PM, January 14th, 2020.

Submitted by Mike Nicolas, who is solely responsible for any errors and omissions.
