Date and time: 5:00 PM, November 12, 2019.
Present: Board President Andy Smart, Barbara Foster, Brian Duncan, Mike Nicolas, Mayor Duane Roderick, Grant Writer Sharon Hutchinson.
Location: Attica City Building court room.
President Smart called the meeting to order at 5:15 due to late arrivals and reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting.
There was discussion about proceeding with the city pool site. It was agreed that it would be a good idea to invite Economic Development Director Rob Bannon to work with us.
Andy Smart reviewed our first assessment tour with the HWC engineering representative, Mr. Cory Whitesell, who observed that the building appeared to be in good condition.
Brian Duncan went over the two quotes to complete an evaluation of the condition and capacity of the existing pool facility including recommendations for work needed to renovate the pool.
After discussion, the Board voted unanimously to go with HWC Engineering, if funding can be obtained.
Sharon Hutchinson observed that this existing facility evaluation is critical for proceeding and seeking funding for a project.
It was noted that there is about $6000 of discretionary funding left in the Parks budget for 2019.
Mayor Roderick said a request for funding could be brought up at the December 9th City Council meeting and Andy Smart and Brian Duncan will represent the Board.
Mayor Roderick said he will negotiate with HWC Engineering.
It was discussed and felt to be a good idea to form an advisory board, especially of young potential users, to choose desirable features for any remodeled and to also help with ideas for funding.
The Board also voted unanimously to match the charitable contributions for an expression swing (a face-to-face adult and small child swing) that will have accumulated by March first, 2020. Barb Foster volunteered to have it posted on the City reader board.
Meeting adjourned at 6:20 PM.
The next regular meeting of the Attica Parks Board will be at 5:00 PM, December 10, 2019 in the Attica City Building court room.
