The Board of Works and Safety for the City of Attica met, pursuant to Public Notice, on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at 4:30 P.M. in the City Council Room.
Present was Mayor Roderick and Board Member, Chris Gayler. Also present was Susan Stoll, Clerk -Treasurer.
Upon Motion duly made by Mr. Gayler and seconded by Mayor Roderick, to approve the minutes from the previous Board of Works Meeting for March 19, 2019, all were in favor and the motion passed.
There were no citizen’s petitions to be heard.
Department Head Reports:
Ron Jean, Street and Water Supervisor was not present.
Eddie Durnil spoke on behalf of the police department. There will be an executive session of the Police Merit Board on April 10 from 6-8 to interview candidates for a full-time Attica police officer to replace Jarid Larson. There are 3 candidates who will be interviewed, and they are hoping to hire one of them. A public meeting at 8 will follow the executive session.
Mr. Little, Fire Chief, was not present.
Jeff Pycke, Building Commissioner, was present. He reported that the owner of 208 and 209 W. Monroe Street has been in contact promising to demolish the structure on one property and a hole filled on the other property. There is a pile of dirt at the property with the hole. Mayor Roderick said he will talk to the city street department about filling the hole. Pycke reported that the owner of 503 S. Perry St. contacted him about operating a resale shop and would like to request that the property be rezoned. Pycke has received complaints about the doors being open at 424 E. Main St. He will send another letter to the owner asking that the problem be addressed.
There was none.
Mayor Roderick reported that he has hired Jud Barce (Barce & Adams) as the City Attorney. He will attend the April Council Meeting. His firm will charge the city by the hour at a predetermined rate.
Utility credits were presented by Mrs. Stoll. Mr. Gayler made a motion to approve all requests. Mayor Roderick made a second to the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed.
Pay Application # 13 from Thieneman Construction for completed work at the wastewater treatment plant was presented for approval. Mr. Gayler made a motion to approve it. Mr. Roderick seconded. All were in favor and the motion passed.
A Certificate of Substantial Completion was provided by Thieneman Construction for the Attica CSO Long Term Control Plan Phase II & WWTF Improvements. Gayler made a motion to approve it and Mayor Roderick seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed.
The Community Crossing contracts 1900935, 6 & 7 were presented for signatures. Gayler made a motion to approve, Roderick seconded, all were in favor and the motion passed.
Claims in the amount of $78,929.34 were presented by Mrs. Stoll for approval. Gayler made a motion to approve the claims. Mayor Roderick made a second to the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed.
There was none.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned, the next Board of Works meeting will be held on April 16, 2019 at 4:30 pm.
