Parks Board Monthly Meeting Minutes – May 8, 2018

Attending: Mayor Duane Roderick, Board President Andy Smart, Barb Foster, Brian Duncan, and Mike Nicolas.

Barb reports she has ordered suits and materials for the pool and pool staffs as authorized, including 10 replacement lounger chairs.

Reported that two lifeguards will not be showing up, which leaves five when four are needed. This means we may not be able to do free swim classes the first week. As it also means lifeguards are potentially looking at 54.5 hours per week, one night swim will be discontinued, and the pool will be closed on Wednesdays. This decision was made after considering several other alternatives as being the least painful.

The pool schedule will now be –

Monday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00 AM-6:00PM.

Tuesday: 11:00 AM-8:00PM (night swim).

Weekends: 11:30AM-6:00PM.

Barb has come up with rules to be posted for lifeguards.

The pool still needs a phone land line according to the health department. The broken admission window still needs replaced. The electrical work is getting done, but a hole has been left in the floor that will need to be covered. Lights and announcing system are working but there may be a microphone problem.

Andy will notify Kiley about the new schedule. Brian will notify staff applicants that the deadline for drug testing is May 23rd.

Duane took care of the pickle ball lines at McDonalds Park.

Cindy Mason requested of the Board that the third Sunday of each month during summer concerts, the Parks Program kids do a pre-program show. She also requested an hour of time on June 30 for youth activities by our Counselor staff. The board thought these were good ideas.
