Attending: Andy Smart, President, Barb Foster, Mike Nicolas, Mayor Duane Roderick, and City Clerk Susan Stoll.
The first order of business was discovering and acknowledging that Jenny Douglas had resigned from the board and left the board minutes and notes. Mike Nicolas agreed to act as secretary for the time being and took charge of the minutes and notes.
The City Clerk then presented the board with the proposed 2018 Parks budget. There was discussion and lamenting that the proposed total budget for 2018 was $148,700 as opposed to$162,455 the previous year. This leaves almost no money beyond maintenance and repair and funding existing programs for new improvements. The board did recognize that the City has other financial constraints. It was mentioned by Andy that grant money might be sought.
A list of major and minor repairs and projects compiled by the board after touring Parks facilities was presented for discussion and prioritizing. Connecting existing trails and repairs to existing bridges and adding railings in Ravine Park, as well as covering the drainage ditch on the North side of Mcdonald Park to add parking were priorities.
City pool staffing , training, and pool management proceedures and responsibilities was discussed. It was decided that closer control and oversight of concession accounting and inventory proceedures is needed. There were several compliments about increased pool cleanliness in the last year.
