Call to order by Larry Grant.
As a follow-up to the previous months’ discussion on adding a tenth zoning district to the city code, the first draft of a proposed ordinance was shared with everyone. Cindy Mason wondered if the ordinance would allow an apartment at the rear of the first floor. Also, someone asked if an office would be permitted in an upstairs level. Larry Grant asked that the committee review the ordinance in full and the discussion was tabled until the next Area Planning Commission Meeting in September.
There seems to be a consensus in thinking that any residential development in the future will have to include a proper amount of parking spaces allotted for off street parking.
Cindy Mason asked if the Area Planning Commission has a vision for how downtown should look in the future.
The Area Planning Commission asked if they could get copies of our Comprehensive Plan. They asked if Brent Mather could be invited to our September meeting to speak about the vision for the downtown area. Mayor Roderick will invite Brent and ask for copies of the comprehensive plan.
An update for the demolition of 106 S. Perry was discussed. The reports came back indicating no asbestos. The plans for demolition are progressing.
The next meeting will be held in another month on Thursday, September 21 at 7 PM at the City Council Room/City Building.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM
