News & Updates

City of Attica Newsletter June 2017

We are looking forward to a great summer filled with music, food, and fun. Not many cities can say they have over 100 acres of parks and trails, as well as pickle ball courts.

The city once again plans to have fireworks on July 1st at the high school. We certainly appreciate Mr. Marshall and AHS for their hospitality. Due to construction on Sycamore Street there will be some challenges getting in and out so we are asking the public and the neighborhood to please understand and be patient. We think the show will be worth it. There will be 2 way traffic from US 41 to Morningside Drive. You will enter the school grounds through an entrance next to the Superintendent’s office.

Also, please plan to be at McDonald Park on Saturday, July 1st from 4pm -9pm for our Community Celebration. There will be music, inflatable houses, and the Park Avenue Band.

Every 3rd Sunday there will be music at McDonald Park beginning at 7pm. This is called the Twilight Music series and it will run through October.

Speaking of Sycamore Street, the project is on schedule. Beginning in May, there will be a lot of times it will be one lane with one way traffic and there will be a period of time when the street will be closed from Brady to McDonald. I feel for those who lost trees and face traffic difficulties but hopefully everyone will like the finished product. Once again we ask for your patience and White Construction will do all that they can to accommodate the neighborhood.

There will be a lot of much needed street repair this year and we hope that there will be more in the future. Last year we received $54,600 in a Community Crossings Grant which was a 50/50 match from INDOT. This year a 75/25 match is available so we hope to continue improving our local streets.

Attica Main Street continues to work at keeping Attica the place to be. Projects include improved street lights, a summer music program, and the economic development of Attica, to name a few.

Thanks to you for working together, staying positive, and helping each other keeping Attica the place to be.

Burnadette”Bunny” Jordan received an award for 20 years of service on the Attica Police Department. Thank you Bunny for continuing to make a difference.
