Board of Works & Safety – January 2, 2013

The Board of Works and Safety for the City of Attica met, pursuant to Public Notice, on Wednesday, January 2 at 4:28 P.M. in the City Council Room. Present was Mayor, Robert Shepherd, City Clerk, Susan Stoll and Board Member, Duane Roderick. Also present was City Attorney, Tom O’Connor.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of the regular session held on December 18, 2012 were approved as prepared on a motion by Duane Roderick, seconded by Mr. Shepherd.

CITIZENS PETITIONS

There were no citizens Petitions to be presented to the Board.

DEPARTMENT HEADS REPORTS

Police Chief, Robert Brewer, reported a new door was put in the entrance to the police office. Also, 27 applicants were submitted for the merit officer position. 20 showed up and tested. 3 were for reserve status. He reported he will begin background checks now.

Building Commissioner, Eric Dismore reported that he looked through old pending permits to work on getting them resolved. He reported that Jeff Scott says he is still negotiating with the insurance company regarding repairs to the Attica Hotel. No phone calls were returned by Kyle Knosp to Mayor Shepherd regarding clean up of his yard.

There was no New Business presented.

CLAIMS

Claims dated on January 2, 2013 for $143,447.91, as shown by the Claims and Allowance docket, were presented to the board. Mr. Roderick made a motion to pay the claims, seconded by Mr. Shepherd

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS

There was no Miscellaneous Business presented.

There being no further business to be brought before the board; Mr. Roderick made a motion to adjorn and Mr. Shepherd seconded the motion.
